Sweet  And Salty Snack Mix

This snack mix is easy to mix up, taking only 5 minutes. You'll be able to have this delicious snack anytime you want, whether on the go, to pack in your lunch, or simply while you’re at home. It’s a healthy way to satisfy that sweet or salty craving. The sweetness is added by the addition of dates and raisins, which only have 4 grams of sugar per date, 45 mg of potassium, and 11 grams of sugar and 136 mg of potassium in 1/8 cup of raisins, respectively. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F. On a baking sheet, add the oats, cinnamon, and water. Give it a stir. Bake for about 10 minutes, or until toasty. Pour it into your bowl. I like to use glass Pyrex bowls.

Add the other ingredients to the bowl and combine. That’s it. You have your tasty snack that should last about 3 days, but it will not stay that long because it is so delicious. This recipe is made with gluten-free oats, gluten-free rice cereal, dates, raisins, pumpkin seeds, and organic cinnamon. You can, of course, mix and match to create your own snack mix combination. Some tasty substitutions could be goji berries in place of the raisins, hemp, chia seeds, or any dried fruit of your preference. Organic spices are really important because conventional spices have been irradiated and treated with chemicals; these practices are not banned in the US at this time.

Where do I find these ingredients, you may ask? I mean, you can’t just get your ingredients anywhere when you’re dealing with food allergies, food intolerances, or any other reasons for needing to buy your ingredients from specific vendors. I will link to these vendors at the bottom of the page, but they include Azure Standard, where you can find many ingredients, including some of the ingredients in this recipe. Super Seedz for pumpkin seeds is another great one, as they are allergen-friendly. This is really important. What’s the point of a food item being gluten-free if there’s cross-contamination of ingredients you can’t have?  This is the perfect snack to have around anytime, an easy snack to have on hand when unexpected visitors show up at your door!
