Appetizer Or Meal
These wings are great for any occasion. These wings work well as an appetizer or as a component of the main meal. If they're served as part of the main meal, that means you can get creative with some tasty sides to go with them. Mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, minestrone soup, or my broccoli and tomato pasta would all be lovely additions to go with the wings.
If they’ll be an appetizer, then a nice salsa, which I’ll talk about in this recipe, is a nice addition; a non-dairy cheese sauce; or even some tomato soup with crackers makes this a satisfying appetizer.
Preheat Oven to 350*
Take the wings sections out of the freezer and place them in the fridge to thaw overnight. If you leave them in the freezer, you can do a quick thaw in the oven for about 10 minutes, so no worries if you forget. Where can you get the best chicken wing sections? Place in the oven at 350* for about 10 minutes. Once the chicken wings are thawed, drain the liquid and then rinse with water. Line the baking sheet with parchment. Pat chicken wings dry and then coat with the olive oil, salt, and seasoning. Turn oven up to 400*. Bake wings for 25 minutes or until browned. Set aside to cool.
Next the salsa, which is also quick and easy. This whole meal will be complete in just 35 minutes. As an appetizer, this will be satisfying for any crowd. First combine the tomatoes, onion, and garlic in a food processor. Fun facts about tomatoes. Tomatoes were introduced into Europe in the 16th century. Mature (ripe) tomatoes are red because of the lycopene, but unripened or immature tomatoes are green because they have chlorophyll.
Once the tomatoes are in the food processor, combine until smooth. Add to a small pan. Add in the salt and Italian seasoning and stir. Cook on medium-high heat for about 25 minutes until reduced. Once it’s reduced, add it to a bowl. Plate your wings and enjoy the occasion!
